Can I adjust the height of the table frames?
Do the cushions fade in the sun?
STERN cushions are made from polyacrylic, which has a very high lightfastness rating of 7-8 (with a maximum value of 8). Therefore, our cushions have very good UV protection.
However, please note that over time, all fabrics tend to fade when exposed to direct or indirect UV rays. Moisture accelerates fading, so wet fabrics should always be dried in the shade.
Does the Silverstar tabletop get hot in the sun?
Yes, the tabletops can get quite warm when exposed to direct sunlight. The darker your tabletop, the warmer/hotter it can get. This is because dark materials or colors absorb sunlight more effectively and therefore heat up faster.
How long does it take for a cushion to dry?
Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered definitively as it depends on various factors. The outside temperature, the amount of water, whether a cushion is in the shade or the sun – these and other factors affect the drying time.
On average, you can assume:
In the shade: 5-6 hours
In the sun: 2-3 hours
Should I cover or store the cushions indoors at night?
To ensure you can enjoy your STERN furniture for as long as possible, we recommend covering them with a STERN protective cover. If no protective cover is available, we recommend storing the cushions and pads in a sheltered place.

How do I care for my STERN garden furniture?
To ensure your newly purchased garden furniture lasts for a long time, we recommend regularly caring for and protecting it.

To make the care and cleaning of STERN furniture easier, special care and cleaning products have been developed for our range. These can be purchased through specialist retailers.

How do I overwinter my garden furniture?
Since it can get quite cold and unpredictable in winter, we recommend protecting your STERN furniture accordingly. Ideally with a matching STERN protective cover.
Make sure the cover is properly ventilated to prevent condensation. You can use simple plastic wedges or similar objects as spacers for this purpose.
Your furniture is best stored under a roof, so it is not exposed to direct weather conditions (snow, sleet, or rain). The ideal storage is in a dry, unheated room.
Additionally, you should let any water that may have entered hollow frames drain out before overwintering. This is best done by removing the floor gliders. Please do this on a non-sensitive surface in case the water is discolored. If water freezes in the pipes, it expands, which can lead to damage to the material.
Can I leave my garden furniture outside all year round?
In general, all of our garden furniture is suitable for outdoor use. This means you can leave the furniture outside without any problems during the summer.
However, for products with fabric, we recommend covering them with a matching STERN protective cover to ensure a long life for your garden furniture.

What is flash rust?

What can I do about grease stains on my wooden tabletop?
What can I do about marks on my floor caused by abrasion from floor gliders?
Our garden furniture is equipped with black floor gliders. These match the design of the furniture perfectly, are stable, and have UV protection.
However, like all plastics, our floor gliders also have abrasion, which can vary depending on the structure of the floor. On light-colored floors, this abrasion can leave visible marks. You can easily remove the streaks with common household cleaners.

Are the cushions washable?
Cushions made of polyacrylic:
Cushion covers with a zipper can easily be washed in the washing machine on a gentle cycle at a maximum of 30°C using a mild detergent. Please pull them over the filling while still damp and let the cushion dry upright in the shade. We advise against tumble drying as it damages the fibers. To maintain the dirt- and water-repellent properties, we recommend using our Stern outdoor fabric protector.

Cushions made of polyester:
Cushion covers can be easily washed in the washing machine on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Pull the cushion cover over the foam while still damp and let it air dry in the shade. They should not be ironed or tumble dried.
How often and how should I care for my teak or old teak furniture?
We recommend treating your STERN wooden furniture at least once a year with our STERN teak cleaner to remove dirt and unwanted patina.
Additionally, you should use our STERN teak protector to treat your STERN garden furniture. This will help refresh the appearance of the wood and prevent the formation of patina. It is important to check whether you like the color before use.
